What are Organic Cacao Butter Wafers

Peak Supps organic cacao butter wafers are disc/button shaped.

Originating from the tropical climates in South America, the Theobroma Cacao tree is sacred amongst the Mayans and the Aztecs. On its own, the cacao beans are a fine ‘superfood’ as they foster a variety of antioxidants and other nutrients.

Produced by organic growers in Peru, cacao beans contain more antioxidants than red wine and 3x more than green tea. Cacao beans embody a rich source of minerals.

Harvested by hand as pods, the raw beans are selected for the finest quality and fermented to reduce their initial bitterness. Cacao butter is made by pressing ground, milled cacao nibs to make a cocoa paste. This process separates the butter from the powder. The butter is solidified and moulded into wafers (buttons). Cocoa butter contains a high proportion of saturated fats, derived from healthy acids – steer and palmitic acid.

Coconut Truffles Recipe:

Ingredients: 2 tablespoons Cacao Butter (melted), 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted), 1 tablespoon desiccated coconut, 5 tablespoons orange juice, 2 tablespoons cashew butter, 3-4 tablespoons coconut flour, maple syrup to taste.

Method: In a bowl mix the cacao butter, coconut oil, cashew butter, orange juice and maple syrup. Add the desiccated coconut and coconut flour and mix until the mixture is thick. Roll into little balls and leave to cool in the fridge for a few hours.
