What is Organic Ginger?

Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) is a popular spice that is commonly used in cooking recipes. The rhizome (stem) can be easily added to soups, baked goods, smoothies & made into a tea. It is also used as a supplement due to its active ingredient, gingerols.

Gingerols is a bioactive compound provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Antioxidants can help fight free radicals and play a role in protecting DNA, proteins and lipids from oxidative stress.

Ginger is often used to help settle stomachs, motion sickness and support mobility. It is also used in traditional remedies and Ayurveda. Ginger is related to Turmeric and is suitable for anyone taking part in intense bouts of high intensity exercise.

Recommended Intake

As a spice, we recommend taking 3-5g a day. Lower dosages can be used, depending on the required taste / recipe.

Ginger Biscuit Recipe:

Ingredients: 2 teaspoons Ground Ginger, 100g self-raising flour, 2 tablespoons golden syrup / honey, 40g sugar, 50g melted unsalted butter, 1 level tsp Sodium Bicarbonate.

Method: Preheat the oven to gas 5, 190°C, fan 170°C. Place non-stick baking paper on 2 baking trays. Combine the flour, sodium bicarbonate, sugar & Ginger into a bowl. Create a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the melted butter and the syrup / honey. Mix until a soft dough is formed. Cut into desired size, roll and place onto the baking tray then slightly flatten. Bake for 12 minutes and leave to firm up for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

*Store in an airtight container. Can be kept for up to 1 week.
