Taurine is considered a ‘conditional essential amino acid’. For the majority of individuals it is produced by the body, but for maximum stores Taurine has to be consumed through diet or supplementation. Taurine is found in foods such as meat, fish and dairy products.
Taurine is found in high concentrations in white blood cells, skeletal muscles, heart muscles and the central nervous system. It is the second most abundant amino acid in muscle tissue, after L-glutamine.
Taurine is a versatile powder and can be added to a variety of supplements to form a DIY pre/post workout drink, it is often a key ingredient in energy drinks.
