5 Tips To Help You Become An Early Riser

by Dan Ellis 15 Jul 2022 0 Comments

The alarm rings and you hit snooze again.. 5 more minutes have suddenly turned into 20 and now you're stressed, rushing and your day has started on a negative

Not an early morning person? we feel you. Today we're going to go through our top 5 tips to help become a morning person.

Put your phone far away to eliminate hitting the snooze

The snooze alarm should be avoided at all costs when trying to become an early riser. It's so easy and convenient to just tap the snooze button just one more time. Keeping your phone or alarm past your arm's reach requires you to move your body and get out of bed. Once you're up, make your bed and get ready for the day.

Having an enjoyable morning routine

Having something to look forward to in the mornings makes it mentally easier to get yourself out of bed. Try creating a positive motive such as a new podcast, book, morning meditation, or affirmations rather than getting up because you have to.

Another tip is to prep breakfast the night before, so there are fewer morning chores to complete and breakfast can be easy and enjoyable. We recommend using Peak Supps oats to create delicious breakfasts like overnight oats.

The curtains trick

Try and leave your blinds or curtains slightly open in the morning, so that when the morning comes, the natural sunlight will help to wake up your mind and body naturally, making it easier to get up and out of bed.

Ease into early mornings

If you're not an early riser, attempting to jump straight into 6 am mornings will be hard and off-putting. Start with a realistic time and work your way to your goal by waking up slightly earlier week by week.

An example could be:

Week 1  7:30 am
Week 2  7:00 am
Week 3  6:30 am
Week 4  6:00 am

Try and put discipline into your bedtime / create a bedtime routine

This is an obvious one, but try and get to sleep at a reasonable time. Like the tip above, instead of shocking your sleep cycle, try and go to bed slightly earlier every night. Make yourself a bedtime routine, try things such as swapping electronics such as a phone screen or tv for a book or journal.

So there you have it! That's our top 5 tips to help become a morning person.

It is generally recommended to aim for 8 hours of sleep a night for optimal health, longevity, cognitive function, and recovery. Many of us know, that this isn't always achievable.
