Hello, and welcome to the team! Can you tell us about yourself and how you found your love for fitness?
Hello! I'm Corey, 25, and a professional CrossFit Athlete from Swansea, Wales.
I've always been into fitness, coming from a rugby background when I was younger to powerlifting in my teens, competing at a high level in both sports. The main love I have with fitness is how you can always better yourself; that's what I fell in love with and pushes me every day.
Workouts
What's your favourite workout?
I love a snatch session or a session that leaves me on my back...which is all of them!
What does your weekly workout schedule look like?
So my training changes every week with multiple sessions a day.
Monday Session 1: | Monostructural (HIIT) session |
Monday Session 2: | Olympic Lifting (Snatch Focused) with Accessories, and a conditioning piece |
Tuesday Session 1: | Monostructural (HIIT) session, with weight aspects. |
Tuesday Session 2: | Olympic Lifting (Clean & Jerk Focused) with Accessories, and a conditioning piece |
Wednesday Session 1: | Sprints in either Running, Rowing, Assault Bike etc. |
Wednesday Session 2: | Olympic Lifting (Barbell Cycling), Gymnastics, and a conditioning piece |
Thursday: | Day Off |
Friday Session 1: | Monostructural (HIIT) session |
Friday Session 2: | Olympic Lifting (Snatch Focused) with Accessories, and a conditioning piece. |
Saturday: | Crossfit Session, Pure WODs and Barbell Cycling to work on aerobic or anaerobic work. |
Sunday: | Day Off |
We all have one... What's your most hated exercise?
I'm not a huge fan of sprints as they leave me so blown out that I can't move for a few minutes, but I love all exercises. Oh, Bicep Curls...they are boring haha.
What are your current fitness goals?
My main goal is to go to the CrossFit Games... the premier league of CrossFit. With the hours of training I put in, I will get there. The goal is high but achievable!
What workouts have you found work best for you or found don't work for you?
I've done bodybuilding, powerlifting, and gymnastics, but I've found CrossFit is the best I've felt physically and mentally. The endorphins rush and the way you hit all elements in fitness is great, to me anyway.
I've found high-volume workouts like a high set of reps whilst doing back squats leave my knees in pain and discomfort. So a high-volume workout isn't for me in that respect.
Nutrition
Can you talk us through what it looks like to eat like Corey for a day? Do you commit to a special diet or calorie count?
I eat 4,500 Calories a day... weigh 90kg and love food! I typically tend to eat a high carbohydrate diet, I need to for the energy expended on my workouts. So I eat things like rice, chicken, vegetables, beef, Peak Supps oats, and fruits. I'm currently loving the Peak Supps Jumbo Oats!
I also eat sweets, energy drinks, cupcakes, and square bars around my sessions to give that sugar boost. So my diet is varied and about 80/20 most of the time.
Do you have any healthy alternative snacks you can share with us?
Rather than having sweets all the time, I do have fruit snacks, like dried fruit in packets. Also more natural sugars than manufactured ones.
What supplements do you use? And what is your favourite Peak Supps product?
I take a lot of supplements...
But my favourite has to be Electrolytes as I sweat so much I need the salts and "Good Stuff" to rehydrate me ready for the day.

What is your secret to motivating yourself to work out?
Might sound clique but I just love what I do, I've found a sport I love and want to do for the rest of my life!
Who inspires you the most?
I have many inspirations but the biggest for me would be my mum, she's a hard-working single mum. From day one she has pushed us and raised me to be a strong, determined individual. She was also a professional LES MILLS instructor and had the same drive that I've now got for CrossFit.
Do you have any tips on how to keep pushing on your off days?
Just remember, every day is a building block for your goal, so if one day is missed you have missed an opportunity to build towards your goal.
And finally, what's the one bit of advice you would give to anyone looking to start their fitness journey?
Think of how you would feel if you didn't take the leap into fitness. If you want a change, you will do so...
If not, don't force it and find something you love to do, even if it's a walk. Don't put pressure on your fitness journey!
