Boswellia is an herbal extract from the resin gum harvested from the Boswellia Serrata tree. Otherwise known as Indian Frankincense, Boswellia has over 20 different species. Those that produce resin are turned into oils which are then put into different grades depending on when in the year they were harvested, extracted and processed.
This resin is used in Ayurveda and other Asian remedies as one of its active ingredients, boswellic acid, is believed to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. Boswellia Serrata contains large amounts of boswellic acids including 12 different types.
