Why our coconut buckets are a MUST have!

We already know what you're thinking... why would I want a 10-litre coconut oil tub?

Of course, it isn't a necessity, but we want to give you a few reasons why you may want to invest in this all-natural, multi-purpose product. Trust us, it's worth it!

Our favourite benefit of coconut oil is that it's a multi-purpose product...

Coconut oil for the kitchen

Amid controversy over which cooking oils are healthy and which aren't, trying to find the right one can often be a challenge. Many believe coconut oil makes a great cooking oil option as it works well at high temperatures, meaning it's the ideal oil for high-heat cooking methods like frying.

Researchers worry that our popular cooking oils may pose a threat to our health, scientists have even suggested that cooking with vegetable oils may be harmful as they can release toxic chemicals linked to cancer and other diseases (1).

Research also has shown that using alternatives such as olive oil, butter, and even lard may be a healthier choice as they produce much lower levels of aldehydes. Coconut oil seems to be the best option, producing the lowest levels of harmful chemicals (2).

Coconut oil also contains Lauric Acid, a medium-chain fatty acid that comprises nearly half of the fatty acid content in Coconut Oil.

Although coconut oil may be beneficial to you in the kitchen, please be sensible with the amount you cook with and treat it like you would any other cooking oil.

Coconut Oil for the bathroom

You've probably heard of using coconut oil for beauty purposes, such as skin and hair, but there's so much more to give when it comes to coconut oil. From reviving brittle nails, oil pulling, and even acting as a makeup remover. Let's dive into the reasons why coconut oil deserves a place on your bathroom shelf.

Coconut Oil for your skin

Moisturiser

Coconut Oil acts as a natural moisturiser for dry skin because it's hydrating. One study found that coconut oil significantly improved skin hydration and was just as effective as mineral oil (3).

DIY Makeup Remover

Ever considered using coconut oil to remove makeup? coconut oil has become the new makeup remover craze, with some claiming that it can even fight off waterproof mascara.

Move over expensive/heavy chemical makeup remover; this all-natural beauty does the trick!

Shaving

Another DIY use for coconut oil is to lather your skin to prep for shaving. No more heavy chemical beauty products for simple tasks like shaving!

Natural Hair Mask

Many use coconut oil as a natural hair mask/hair repair treatment to moisturize hair.

Frizzy Hair

The frizzy-haired type has also been known to use a little coconut oil to tame the frizziness (keep in mind that a little goes a long way).

Orally

Have you heard about the latest health craze called 'oil pulling'?

Oil pulling is an ancient natural practice that involves swishing coconut oil (1 tbsp) around your mouth. Studies suggest that oil pulling can kill bacteria and improve dental health (4).

Oil pulling is also believed to be beneficial for other oral issues such as reducing bad breath, preventing cavities, reducing inflammation & improving gum health (5).
